The Madagascar palm, Pachypodium lamerei, makes a striking statement with a tall, spiny trunk and a crown of long, narrow green leaves. In a compact 12 cm pot, this plant feels both architectural and resilient, ready to grow as a focal point on a sunny shelf or windowsill.

Its robust form benefits from bright light and well-draining soil. Water sparingly, letting the soil dry between drinks, and avoid letting the pot sit in standing water. A little grit or pebbles on the surface helps with drainage and a clean, tidy appearance.
